For assistance contact the CME Department at (206) 341-0142.

Current news and literature often reference systemic racism, bias and a lack of health equity in the community. This course is designed to address these topics and more within the context of the health care setting. We will explore conscious versus unconscious bias and how it affects the health of patients and clinicians as well as cultural and racial barriers to health care. We will also present tools and programs that can be incorporated into practice to ameliorate inequities in the clinic or workplace. Teaching methods include lecture, panel discussion and Q&A with faculty.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify ways to intervene on the pervasiveness of racism and bias in our work
  2. Discuss ways in which mentorship can play a significant role in retention and development of diverse leadership
  3. Utilize equity-based decision-making tools to address unconscious bias
  4. Assess how gender bias in healthcare leads to outcome disparities in women of color
  5. Identify two data fields/sources that are important to understand when addressing health inequities the LGBTQI+ patient population face
  6. Evaluate community, healthcare, and local government response to COVID-19 through the lens of health equity
  7. Identify the application of implicit and explicit bias in administrative and medical decision-making

Registration
Tuition: $175.00

Online registration will be open through Wednesday, November 10, 2021. For registration assistance, call the CME department at 206.341.0142.
