Moving Forward with Movement Disorders is a half-day course designed to inform and update primary care clinicians and general neurologists on the latest options and best practices for these challenging diseases, including evidence for improved outcomes when a movement disorder specialist is involved early on in treatment. With a focus on Parkinson’s Disease (PD), we will present an overview that will address gastrointestinal issues specific to these patients, contributors to fatigue, new medications and the workup and management of dysautonomia. We will also describe the elements and goals of the Parkinson’s Disease Wellness Program.

Dr. Farrokh Farrokhi, neurosurgeon at Virginia Mason, will provide an overview of the surgical treatment options for movement disorders, addressing the gap between good candidates and accessibility. The course will conclude with discussions on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), non-PD movement disorders and focused ultrasound for tremor.

Teaching methods include lecture and Q&A with faculty.
