Overview

The 2023 Lung Cancer Update course will be a comprehensive review of screening, evaluation, and treatment of lung cancer. We will discuss the risks and benefits of lung cancer screening, followed by an in-depth review of the evaluation of the incidental and screened lung nodule, including use of robotic bronchoscopy. The relative benefits of limited resection versus lobectomy will be debated, followed by a discussion of radiotherapy for both early and advanced stage disease. The afternoon will include the discussion of medical therapies, including standard and targeted chemotherapy, as well as immunotherapy. The final plenary session will discuss both medical and surgical therapies for malignant effusions. Our day will conclude with a virtual tumor board consisting of a robust staff of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health clinicians.

Teaching methods include lecture, Q&A with faculty, case presentation and panel discussion.
