Target Audience
Specialties - All Specialties
Professions - Non-Physician, Nurse, Physician

Overview

Updates in Complex Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery will present advances in the management of common gynecologic conditions including both benign and malignant diagnoses. Topics include fertility preservation, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), new technology in MIS Gynecology, trauma informed and gender affirming care and pelvic pain/endometriosis. There will be a particular focus on uterine-sparing or fertility-sparing treatments, as well as talks highlighting innovative procedures in both the office and operating room.

We will also update clinicians on the latest evidence in perioperative care and outcomes using the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathway framework. Lastly, we hope to provide a lively discussion on how we, as providers, can combat burnout.

Teaching methods include lecture, panel discussion and Q&A with faculty.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Summarize factors that contribute to disparities in access to minimally invasive gynecologic surgery for benign pathology
  2. Describe indications for egg or embryo banking and define the process, benefits, and drawbacks of fertility preservation options
  3. Discuss evidence-based treatment options for PCOS patients
  4. Review the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathway
  5. Identify risk reducing techniques in patients with hereditary gynecologic cancer syndromes
  6. Demonstrate how multidisciplinary providers collaborate to diagnose and treat pelvic pain in an individualized way
  7. Describe the laparoscopic approach for hysterectomy in cases of a large uterus
  8. Recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in patients
  9. Point out the benefits of vNotes approach to hysterectomy over both laparoscopy and traditional vaginal surgical approaches
  10. Describe implementation and utilization of office hysteroscopy for common gynecological conditions
  11. Review currently available non-surgical management options of uterine fibroids
  12. Identify the contributors to burnout that may be in our sphere of influence
